
Emma Moffat is a Cumbrian Writer and Director particularly interested in action and unusual stories from the past. Following a state school education, she read History at Cambridge (where she studied under the official Historian of MI5 for two years) and has a keen interest in warfare, secret intelligence and women’s history.
Currently she is developing a comedy historical TV series FOOLISH with Mighty Pebble Productions and is writing her debut feature film, PAPERCUT, a thriller set in the 1980s as well as co-writing several history-related comedy projects with Briony Redman. Emma’s next short film, SCOPE is in post-production. Watch this space for updates!
Emma’s previous short, A BATTLE IN WATERLOO stars Oscar and BAFTA-nominee Jessie Buckley and played at several Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying festivals including HollyShorts Film Festival , Underwire Film Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival and BFI Flare Film Festival.
Emma is a BAFTA Connect member and is represented by Rob Kraitt at Casarotto Ramsay & Associates.
Having started out as a Set PA on INCEPTION and worked in VFX on films such as CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, SKYFALL, and SPECTRE, Emma made her first short film EXPOSURE in 2015 and some micro short comedy films. She was chosen in 2016 for Wieden + Kennedy’s creative incubator scheme and was shortlisted for the worldwide Jameson First Shot competition in 2017. In 2018 she assisted Christopher McQuarrie on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT.
With the aid of Dr. Fiona Brown, her therapist, Antonia Lloyd must discover why she has an extreme obsession with circles before it's too late.
A metaphor for the experience of OCD, Scope is a multi-layered psychological thriller short film intended to be immersive, entertaining and thought-provoking.

Under her comedy banner WISE LOBSTER, Emma created several monochrome micro shorts alongside her sculptural comic photography series to demonstrate her comedy writing and design skills.
These comedy shorts earned her a place at Wieden + Kennedy as part of their The Kennedys creative incubator scheme.
All of these shorts and spec-commercials were made in Emma’s living room for under £500.
Hollywood actress, Lydia Wren, is promoting her latest film in press interviews when rumours of an alleged affair between her and another actor surface.
