Emma Moffat is a Writer/Director particularly interested in action and unusual stories from the past. Having studied History at Cambridge she has a keen interest in warfare, secret intelligence and women’s history.
In 2018, Emma’s script for A BATTLE IN WATERLOO won the Bumble Female Film Force. The finished film, starring Jessie Buckley, has its world premiere at Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival this August and has been selected for BAFTA-qualifying Underwire Film Festival this September. Currently Emma is developing an historical TV series and is writing her debut feature film, a spy thriller set in the Cold War.
Having started out as a Set PA on INCEPTION and worked in VFX on films such as SKYFALL, SPECTRE, and FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, Emma was chosen in 2016 for Wieden + Kennedy’s creative incubator scheme and was shortlisted for the worldwide Jameson First Shot competition in 2017. In 2018 she assisted Christopher McQuarrie on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT.
During the Battle of Waterloo, Ellen (Jessie Buckley) searches for her missing husband in the nearby forest and resorts to desperate measures to survive.

Emma’s script, ‘A Battle in Waterloo’ was chosen as one of five winning projects out of over 1000 entries. The film was completed in January 2019 and will screen at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles this August.
The Bumble Female Film Force was set up to ensure more female filmmakers have the platform to progress their careers.
